The famous Niš sculptor Ivan Felker (74) died last night due to the injuries he sustained in an accident that happened yesterday around 8 am in the center of Niš.

Felker was hit by a vehicle while crossing Milojko Lešjanina Street near the mosque. An ambulance intervened and transported him to the Emergency Center of the University Clinical Center in Nis, but he had numerous injuries, as a result of which he died in the evening.

Felker’s colleagues point out that they have lost an exceptional man and an exceptional sculptor. They remind that he did numerous works in the country and in the world, organized several independent and joint exhibitions and won a number of national and international recognitions and awards.

Felker is the author of one of the symbols of the city of Niš, the sculpture of Stevan Sremac and his dog Kalča, the “Snail” fountain in Chair Park, the “Izvor” sculpture in Niška Banja, a memorial to a Serbian soldier from the First World War on Mokra Gora, and the “Marble and Sound” sculpture in Niš Spa.
He painted the portraits of King Peter, Stevan Mokranjec, Vuk Karadžić, Mileva Marić, Milutin Milanković and Nadežda Petrović in the American city of Cleveland, and he made a memorial plaque for Mileva Marić in Zurich.
